Paul Doherty is originally from Co. Antrim, and graduated this year in Visual Arts Practice from IADT. He is also an Architect who lives and works in Dublin. Paul’s work contemplates an uncertain present through painting and drawing. His work generally consists of landscapes and structures that suggest an ambiguous space and time and question notions of a progressive linear history. Recent work consider Modernist painting’s teleology; it’s inbuilt progression which gives it it’s greatness, but which equally leads to it’s demise. In doing so, wider societal concerns with history and technocratic modernity are reflected.
